Streets in Yerevan, Stepanakert, Sevastopol and Feodosia were named in honor of the pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Nelson Stepanyan. Monuments to Stepanyan were erected in Yerevan, Shushi and Liepaja (after 1991, at the request of the Latvian authorities and under the threat of destruction, the monument was moved to Kaliningrad). A school in Yerevan is named after him.

The departmental medal of the RA Ministry of Defense “Nelson Stepanyan” was established. In the USSR and Armenia, postage envelopes and stamps with the image of the legendary pilot were issued. In the military flight school of Armenia, to this day, they resort to his solutions to air tasks, and Stepanyan’s tactical and strategic techniques are included in the educational program.
