Associated with one of the characters of Armenian mythology, most likely with the god of fire and war Vahagn; in pagan Armenian hymns, Vahagn was described as a singed youth, with a flaming beard. Nowadays Tukh Manuk are also part of the traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
According to the sources of the XIX century, the sanctuaries of Tukh Manuk were widespread in the territory of historical Armenia. In some settlements there were several such sanctuaries.
