ARMENIAN ALPHABET CREATED IN THE 5th Century

The Armenian alphabet is considered to be among the oldest and finest alphabets in the world.

There is no reason to be surprised by the fact that monuments dedicated to the Armenian alphabet can be discovered in a variety of countries around the world.

Obviously, the most well-known monument to Armenian writing can be found in Armenia itself, perched on the slope of Mount Aragats. There is another name for this monument, which is the Alley of Letters.

Mesrop Mashtots, a Christian monk and educator, is credited with the creation of the Armenian alphabet in 5th century, which is unique to the country.

For the purpose of commemorating the 1600th anniversary of Mesrop Mashtots’s creation of the Armenian script, 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet were carved out of pink tuff in the year 2007.
