SHAHUMYAN ARTSAKH BATTLE

Following the liberation of one of the villages in the Shahumyan region that had been occupied during the military operation known as “Ring,” which was carried out by units of the Soviet army and the Internal Troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs between the months of May and August 1991, Armenian fighters remove the flag of the enemy.

A year later, during an offensive that was launched, among other things, by units and heavy equipment of the Russian 23rd motorized rifle and 104th airborne divisions, which openly began to fight on the side of Azerbaijan, the Shahumyan region fell once more without resistance.
The offensive was also carried out by the 328th Guards Parachute Regiment, which was commanded by Vladimir Shamanov, who is now a colonel general who has retired with honor following his military career. This is how Azerbaijan fought against Artsakh. Never by themselves and always by someone else’s hands.
