KARAHUNJ

Karahunj (Zorats-Karer) is the oldest stone observatory in the world.

Built 3500 years before Stonehenge and operated for 5500 years) is located in the south of Armenia, near the city of Sisian. This observatory differs from similar observatories (Stonehenge in England or Carnac in France) by the presence of holes in the stones (to observe the movement of cosmic bodies), which makes it unique among objects of this kind.
After lengthy research and excavation of the monument, the main conclusions of scientists are that the monument was a highly developed observatory, equipped with stone instruments that allowed measurements to be made with an accuracy of 30 seconds of arc.
